Taft Trail
The Richard Taft Trail on Cannon Mountain was the first of the major New England ski trails. The trail was concieved by Katharine Peckett of Peckett's Inn. Duke Dimitri von Leuchtenberg, an instructor at Peckett's, laid out the route, and construction was started in 1932, funded by local contributions. The CCC finished the job in 1933. The Taft quickly became a favorite for races due to its width and pitch.
