Connie Davis Watson on the Skimobile at Mt. Cranmore, North Conway NH.
The Skimobile was invented for Mt. Cranmore, NH, by George Morton. Financier Harvey Dow Gibson developed Cranmore as an early destination resort. The Skimobile cars ran on a wooden trestle, pulled by a cable under the trestle in the manner of San Francisco cable cars. The Cranmore Skimobile operated from 1938 until it was dismantled in 1989. Only one other Skimobile was ever installed, at the Homestead in Hot Springs, VA.
